According to the New York Times, “Brain scientists have discovered that swerving around cars while simultaneously picking out road signs in a video game can improve the short-term memory and long-term focus of older adults. Some people as old as 80, the researchers say, begin to show neurological patterns of people in their 20s.”

Colleges of the Fenway Green Careers Expo

The Green Careers Expo is an open-format networking and career exploration event, where students can browse employer exhibit tables and learn about the various organizations, what they do, how they work, and any available internships or full- or part-time positions.  The Expo will kick off with a moderated panel discussion, from 1-2 pm, on green careers, with representatives from different industry segments (government, non-profit, corporate).  Exhibitors will represent the growing areas of Alternative Energy, Biodiversity, Environmental and Habitat Protection, Environmental Policy, Green Architecture and Design, Political Action, Public Health, Socially Responsible Investments, Sustainable Development, and more.  Open to all Colleges of the Fenway students, as well as students from BC, BU and Northeastern. All majors are welcome!

2nd Massachusetts Green Career Conference

The second Massachusetts Green Career Conference is October 1st, 2010, Friday 8am-12:30 at the Holiday Inn in Marlborough, MA.

Exploring Careers For Sustainability Panel happening on Saturday at 12:30 pm at the Down:2:Earth expo.

The green world has widened to include jobs in construction, business and consulting. Join us to explore the types of jobs opportunities and the training you can receive to join the green economy.

Emerald Necklace Conservancy Internships

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy is a non-profit organization in Boston and who works with the parks departments to care for the historic, Olmsted-designed Emerald Necklace parks.  The Conservancy depends on the support and efforts of its volunteers to accomplish its goals. They are always looking for Interns in various positions to assist permanent staff and ensure the success of the Conservancy’s efforts. These positions are unpaid, but can be used as college internships for credit or Co-op positions.

They are currently seeking a student (or a couple of students) to be Project Assistant(s) for the fall semester.  Students should have experience in horticulture, landscaping and/or environmental studies.  Priority will be given to students who qualify for WORK-STUDY funding.
